After that, he went to the Rockefeller University in New York to study photomorphogenesis and regulation of flowering time of Arabidopsis thaliana. From April 2006, he joined the ERATO Hasebe Reprogramming Evolution project and started research work on molecular mechanisms of reprogramming of somatic cells to induce pluripotent stem cells using the moss Physcomitrella patens from the point of view on the cell cycle regulation. He currently continues the study on the reprogramming at the Hasebe Lab.
